At La Cocina de Tití Restaurant & El Rincón Dulce de Tití, Puerto Rican food is not presented as a trend or a fusion concept. It is presented as lived experience — shaped by years of cooking, baking, discipline, and cultural memory.

Located inside West Side Bazaar at 1432 Niagara Street, the restaurant brings together two distinct but deeply connected stories: a savory kitchen led by Chef G, and a dessert operation led by Romy that began nearly two decades ago in Puerto Rico.

Together, they operate today as Team Tití.

A Kitchen Built on Experience and Discipline

La Cocina de Tití officially opened in Buffalo in 2023, but the foundation behind it reaches much further back. Chef G brings more than 15 years of culinary experience, having worked alongside other chefs and refining his approach to flavor, balance, and presentation.

His cooking reflects Puerto Rican traditions rooted in Taíno, African, and Spanish influences — with an emphasis on bold seasoning, slow-cooked proteins, plantains, rice, and familiar comfort dishes.

Presentation matters, but flavor always comes first. Each plate is assembled with intention, and consistency is treated as a non-negotiable part of the craft.

Portions That Speak for Themselves

One detail that immediately stands out when dining at La Cocina de Tití is portion size.

It’s not uncommon for guests to realize that what begins as a dine-in meal easily turns into something that could be packed to go. When the portion size came up in conversation, Chef G simply acknowledged it and said: “That’s how we do it in Puerto Rico.”

There was no embellishment in the remark—just agreement. The portions reflect cultural norms rather than a calculated approach to value or presentation.

Pastelitos with Puerto Rican Roots

Among the most talked-about items are the pastelitos.

Rather than making generic dough in-house, La Cocina de Tití uses Mayagüez-style pastelito dough imported from Puerto Rico. This specific dough is known for how it fries — light, blistered, and crisp — producing a texture that many Puerto Ricans immediately recognize.

It’s a deliberate sourcing decision rooted in authenticity, not convenience. The fillings remain simple, allowing the dough itself to stand out.

El Rincón Dulce de Tití: A Sweet Tradition That Came First

Before the restaurant ever opened, El Rincón Dulce de Tití already had a history.

The dessert concept began nearly 19 years ago in Puerto Rico, under a different name, when Romy, the pastry chef behind El Rincón Dulce de Tití, first developed a passion for baking. What started as interest gradually became a craft shaped by years of repetition, dedication, and refinement.

Over time, that commitment transformed into a dessert operation focused equally on flavor and visual presentation. Each dessert is designed to be enjoyed with the eyes as much as the palate.

Flan, tres leches, cakes, and specialty desserts are not treated as side items — they stand on their own as a parallel offering to the savory kitchen.

Two Stories, One Team

In 2023, the two paths officially came together.

Chef G and Romy, the pastry chef behind El Rincón Dulce de Tití, united their lives — and their businesses — combining long-established savory and dessert traditions into one shared operation.

Today, they work side by side as Team Tití, offering Puerto Rican food that reflects both sides of their culinary history.

Inside West Side Bazaar

Operating inside West Side Bazaar, La Cocina de Tití & El Rincón Dulce de Tití add to the market’s reputation as a hub for immigrant- and minority-owned food businesses.

The space allows guests to experience Puerto Rican cuisine in a setting that emphasizes cultural exchange, accessibility, and community.
